"Scottish singer, musician, producer Tom Kills straps on the alternative electronica visor to re-boot into a hypnotic robotic jolt of chrome clatter and sci-fi laser enhancement...rendering this transmission intergalactically spectacular" EQ Music, Review

EQ Music Review...

"Let it be known that jaunty pop providers Autoheart did release their perky pop piece “Lent” on the 11th February, and it also came to pass that they did also on that day deliver unto us a package of power-some electrified remixes to captivate our electro hungry hearts and this is the gospel truth.

From the foundations of the melodiously breezy, original quirky pop composition the track is turned 4 different shades of synth colour to indulge the sensory aesthetics in a whirpool of dynamic energy and pace.

In charge of the intense mid-tempo, ambiently driven strand from the package Bright Light Bright Light oversees that the synth level is increased in a surging palpitation of electro beating and deluge of drum pad heavy boldness taking on an industrious slant showing a weighty variant that will tantalize right through to your electro soul in its gothic splendour.

A tribal flair is measured up by Hannah Holland, who slathers the dainty piece in a pounding of techno house bass beats and slinky bassline movement, propelling the track into the dirty bass arena with aplomb.

Scottish singer, musician, producer Tom Kills straps on the alternative electronica visor to re-boot into a hypnotic robotic jolt of chrome clatter and sci-fi laser enhancement that summons down otherworldly creatures to take command of the backing vocals, rendering this transmission intergalactically spectacular.

The “O/R” draws the package to a close by lending a deep soul based late 80’s re-count of the Anglo/African dubplate used in the Soul II Soul clubbers classic “Back To Life”, exchanging quirky for slinky and firing the track with urban smooth.

The “Lent” remix package, a cacophony of an experimental wall of sounds; bold, slinky, sci-fi leaning and urban smooth a winning pick for all tastes."

"Weird mixed with wonderful, depravity mixed with up-tempo electro beats. Seeing him do this with no less than a guitar, microphone, laptop, synth, samplers and about a million different effects pedals is nothing short of impressive with a hint of mental"

KILLING MOON INTERVIEW: Tom Kills is not a normal person. Of course, that pre-determines the notion that normality isn’t something that constantly evolves at any particular moment in time or is even definable in any context; but if normality was indeed something akin to a golden yellow brick road heading toward an emerald city, then our guy Tom could be that parallel pathway that has spiked-thorny weeds and nettles uprooting the weathered paving stones and the occasional axe swinging across the perpendicular. Well, maybe not an axe, but certainly a large, weighty object that could do some serious shit if it impacted on a straggler.

"Having blown The Kaje‘s mind with his mini-album “SEMI”, uber-talented Scottish producer/musician/songsmith Tom Kills is a man who has the means to be MASSIVE." The Kaje, Interview

"Having blown The Kaje‘s mind with his mini-album “SEMI”, uber-talented Scottish producer/musician/songsmith Tom Kills only added the impact his mini-album had by creating a series of sensational made-at-home videos to accompany his DIY recorded efforts. With so many strings to his bow, there is little doubt that Kills is a man who has the means to be MASSIVE. The Bowie-influenced songsmith is clear and concise in his aims as The Kaje found out…" The Kaje, Interview

"Semi is everything you could possibly want from an EP. It is enticingly haunting, unassumingly catchy and leaves you wanting more. Kills is an artist that excites and enlightens" - The Kaje Review

"It may sound as if we are trying to negate Kills’ effort with a non-stop list of similarities, yet there is something so distinct about Tom Kills that these comparatives should be taken with a pinch of salt. Kills is an artist that excites and enlightens with his radio friendly DIY fodder. While The Hurts-esque “Million Pieces” and “Dvorian Gray” offers perhaps the collections most chart friendly approach to songwriting, it is evident that there is far more to Tom Kills than meets the eye."

"an artist with an inspired feel for bringing emotion, shadows and superbly crafted electronic sounds into vibrant and impactful soundscapes for the senses and thoughts to revel in. SEMI is a real feast for the ear and beyond" Ringmaster Review

"Semi is a true pleasure and treat, every aspect of the EP is a joy and impressively crafted. Light and dark fuel the release and one suspects Tom Kills too by the emotive edge unleashed on Semi and long may they rage with music this satisfying.

Kills has created a collection of songs with a heart seeded in the eighties and passion firmly set in today. The release leaves one glowing and grinning from an accomplished journey through a diverse electro pop kaleidoscope of sound. Semi dances with the heart and teases the senses whilst all the time keeping the mind active with emotive lyrics and compulsive ambient textures behind the mesmeric melodic flow." "Swathed in mystery, the one-man wall of sound lets his music do the talking. Swirling synths, pulsating beats and haunting vocals can be found throughout Semi" Entertainment Focus Review

"Despite Semi being one of his first releases, Tom is already turning heads in the industry, having enjoyed Radio 1 airplay on BBC Introducing Scotland and has caused a number of tastemaker blogs to prick up their ears when they’ve heard his songs.

I've got a semi

Feels good knowing my SEMI is a short way away from being released. I also made it cheap to buy - costs less than a pint of beer for five songs which I put everything into - not just writing them and performing them - but I produced and mixed them too. I did my own artwork. I built this site. I admit I'm broke but for me it's worth the financial pain when I see what the end result is and know that I did it without a penny to my name. I hope you like it. I like it.

It's available now for pre-order on itunes... the rest is up to you.

"Kills creates music that swarms slowly but eagerly across the senses, it's 80’s electronic pop laced with a dark tone bringing a thoroughly mesmeric sound." Ringmaster Review

"For a starter to any public musical introduction ‘Million Pieces’ is deeply impressive and a perusal and digestion of other tracks posted on Kills’ web site and profiles shows this is not a one off. Songs like the emotive ‘Silly Little Self’, the excitable majesty of ‘Sex Robots’, and the impassioned ‘Catastrophe’ all show that Kills is a songwriter than knows how to create well crafted songs that make their home far deeper than the ear. All are haunting in some degree and trigger responses to ensure they are not fleeting romances with their hosts."

"Not only is there a sense of intrigue surrounding him personally, but that same level of mind-boggling imagination spills into his music too" Clixie Review

"A Million Pieces takes a nebulous blend of alternative rock and electronica with its tantalising synths and energetic beats, leaving you wanting even more of the same."

A review from Clixie.co.uk  (thank you for your kind words. Tom)

"Tom Kills has made his new single A Million Pieces available as a free download. The track, which you can grab from either his official website or Soundcloud page, is sort of what you’d expect if you rolled the vocals of Bowie into Depeche Mode – that all being well and good of course, right?

Not much is really known about Tom Kills. There’s barely any information on his website, and if you take a quick peak at the details on his Facebook page you’ll only be disappointed to find that he’s from Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire – or simply put, Scotland.

Though sometimes a lack of information on an artist can be an instant put-off for many a reason, it can also have totally the opposite effect. I mean if you take the likes of Ms Mr and Black Light Dinner Party for example you’d struggle to really force a well written biography out of them with the sparse amount of detail about them on the web.

Nevertheless, there’s something about Tom Kills that really struck us. Not only is there a sense of intrigue surrounding him personally, but that same level of mind-boggling imagination spills into his music too – A Million Pieces takes a nebulous blend of alternative rock and electronica with its tantalising synths and energetic beats, leaving you wanting even more of the same."
